Florence photography Commission
This was a recent project for View West Photography. We were commissioned to shoot a luxury Florentine property In Italy along with capturing a feel of the historical city of Florence.
Palazzo Buontalenti is a fascinating example of late 16th-century Florentine architecture, it occupies an important urban location on the edge of the first circle of the city walls, just a short stroll away from the magnificent Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and the Ponte Vecchio.
Florence, the capital city of the Tuscany region in Italy, is known for many things, including its outstanding art, Renaissance architecture, and distinguished cultural heritage.
It is considered by many academics to have been the birthplace of the Renaissance, becoming a major artistic, cultural, commercial, political, economic and financial center
This was our first shoot in Florence and photographing such a marvel of art and history was such an experience.
This elegant frescoed property is a perfect testament to 16th-century Florentine art and architecture.
Shooting in one of these properties means working surrounded by Renaissance art and architecture in one of the most fascinating locations in the world to anyone that has been to art school.
Skill and technical knowledge aside, choosing the angles in this property were very much dictated by the artwork covering the walls. Once I had the pictures right in my head, it was then a case of deciding what pieces of furniture etc to keep in and what to remove, there is a balance between de-cluttering and an un-lived in look.
Once the interior photography was shot and edited, it was onto the city architectural photography. I had done my research and had a list of places that I wanted to visit, I took a small backpack and a travel tripod so I could work very quickly. After a couple of taxi rides and a march through the city on foot, I achieved everything that I needed to.
